Labour’s NEC election candidates
By Labour CND

For Labour to succeed in government it must change course and stop the advance of the far right. More and more party members recognise the Labour Party needs to make a significant change in direction. That includes prioritising welfare over warfare and wages over weapons; and it means an approach to international politics that prioritises diplomacy and negotiations over rearmament and the drive to war. Your vote in Labour’s 2026 NEC election can help make this happen.
National Executive Committee, CLP Section
Places in the Constituency Labour Party section of the NEC are up for election this year. Labour CND urges supporters to try to secure their CLP’s nominations for the candidates who support the restoration of party democracy and oppose increases in the military budget.
Labour CND is backing the three Centre Left Grassroots Alliance (CLGA) candidates for election in the CLP section, supported by Momentum and the Campaign for Labour Party Democracy. They are:
- Gemma Bolton (Membership No L1405940)
- Yasmine Dar (Membership No L1173052)
- Minesh Parekh (Membership No L1230833)
Gemma, Yasmine and Minesh are standing on a common platform which champions real Labour values and opposes anti-democratic manoeuvres by the party leadership. Importantly, it includes the following:
For peace, defence of international law and against racism
The Government must be much bolder in supporting peace and justice internationally, and stand up to Trump’s belligerent agenda for US dominance. The government should act on last year’s overwhelming Labour Conference vote to suspend arms sales and trade with Israel and recognise the genocide in Gaza, as well as take the approach of the 2025 Trades Union Congress in prioritising wages not weapons by cancelling proposed increases to military spending. Instead of pandering to Reform, Labour must reverse its plans to attack migrant rights and make our asylum system even more draconian. Labour should not be attempting to out-Reform Reform and instead champion the contributions of migrants to society.
CLP nomination meetings
Candidates require nominations from at least five CLPs in order to be included in this summer’s national ballot of party members. CLPs have to submit their NEC nominations to the Labour Party by 12 noon, Friday 26 June.
There are nine CLP seats on the NEC. Each CLPs can make up to nine nominations. At least four of the nine members elected to the CLP NEC seats must be women. Find out when your CLP will be meeting to decide on nominations – and spread the word about Gemma, Yasmine, and Minesh.
This NEC election will take place by an OMOV (One Member One Vote) ballot in July-August. The vote is counted using the Single Transferable Vote (STV) method.
